Medical/Sports Massage

$40/30min — $70/60min — $100/90min

What to Expect

This massage session will incorporate advanced modalities that enhance the body’s natural restorative functioning. Medium to firm touch is used to release tension, relax muscles, increase blood circulation, and impart a sense of calm.

Medical massage can be used as a collaborative, supportive addition to conventional medical treatment of illness and injury, alleviating pain and stress, aiding soft tissue healing, and revitalizing the body.

Sports massage is a form of bodywork geared toward participants in athletics. It is used to help prevent injuries, to prepare the body for athletic activity and maintain it in optimal condition, and to help athletes recover from workouts and injuries.

Both medical and sports massage are tailored to the individual, depending on what the client's body needs.

Neuromuscular Massage (PNMT)

$50/30in — $80/60min — $110/90min

What to Expect

This massage session would be similar to a Physical Therapy (PT) session. The client will be clothed and will go through a series of muscle tests prior to the massage treatment. During the session, the client will be assessed, massaged, stretched, and may go over exercises if needed.

Three broad principles apply to PNMT:

  1. Neuromuscular massage is deductive. For every symptom a client may present, there are multiple possible causes. How can you get to the most likely source as efficiently as possible? That is what we concentrate on.

  2. Neuromuscular massage is science based, not philosophically based. The school I am attending has conducted many clinical research studies relevant to the work and are always combing the literature to find more.

  3. Neuromuscular massage is client based. Since the causes for every symptom can be different, each client should get a session created exactly for them, rather than a routine or recipe. There is no shoulder routine, low back routine, or set of specific tests you do for every person who walks in your door (one size fits nobody).

Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

$50/30min — $80/60min — $110/90min

What to Expect

This massage session will be used for specific ailments, such as lymphedema or swelling of the limbs. It is also suitable for post surgery recovery and chronic inflammation/fluid retention.

Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a gentle manual technique. It is a potent way to activate the lymphatic system, especially when the transport capacity of the lymph system is reduced because of prior surgery and/or radiation therapy.

If MLD is carried out as an isolated treatment when dealing specifically with lymphedema or lipedema, the results may be very temporary and lasting evacuation of lymph fluid from a congested (swollen) limb will not be possible. In these cases, the therapist will go over self care techniques for the client in addition to MLD sessions, such as self massage, compression bandaging, nutrition, exercise, and compression garments.

MLD alone may be used with much success with many other conditions unrelated to lymphedema (liposuction, swelling after surgery, pooling of fluid in legs related to medical conditions, etc).

FMT Blades

$15/15 min

What to Expect

This is similar to the Graston technique for those of you more familiar with that term. FMT (Functional Movement Technique) Blades by RockTape introduces the concept of movement therapy and performance enhancement, using tool-assisted tissue mobilization (which can be combined with kinesiology taping and/or massage).

FMT RockTape

$15/15 min

What to Expect

FMT (Functional Movement Technique) RockTape is a unique kinesiology/sports tape that supports while allowing full range of motion. It is used to decrease pain, decompress tissue, and provide stimulus that improves body awareness. (Can be used in conjunction with massage and/or FMT Blades.)
